Two drug arrests reported by MCPD

Morgan City police reported a pair of drug arrests Tuesday, and a Franklin man turned himself in to Assumption authorities and was booked on an aggravated battery charge.

Morgan City

Interim Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 43 calls for service over the past 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

—Phillip J. Jordan, 56, James Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:56 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

—Harold Edwards Jr., 22, Martin Luther King, Jeanerette, was arrested at 10:59 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to secure registration.

—De’Andre Paul Jackson, 21, Main Street, Patterson, was arrested at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of contempt of court (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

—Shaia Bernauer, 30, Roderick, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on three counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

—Glynn Anthony Guidry Jr., 42, Carline Street, Berwick, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday on 10 counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

—Joel Guillermo, 23, Cy-press Street, Amelia, was arrested at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday on charges of no driver’s license, inspection required, switched license plate, failure to register vehicle and improper lane usage.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 34 complaints and made these arrests:

—Albert Joseph Stevens II, 48, Berwick, was arrested at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday on a Berwick Police Department warrant alleging aggravated crime against nature. Stevens was transferred to another agency.

—Wanya Malik Francis, 27, Patterson, was arrested at 3:04 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of no headlights, brake light required and resisting an officer by flight. Francis was released on a $2,000 bond.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

—John Ross Nash, 29, Eisenhower Street, Franklin, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of aggravated second-degree battery.

The charges result from an incident at a residence in Pierre Part on May 30.

Deputies responded to a residence on Phillip Street and made contact with the complainant. The investigating deputies also made con-tact with the alleged victim.

Deputies interviewed the complainant and the victim, and both advised that Nash had gone to the residence and engaged in a verbal confrontation with the victim, which turned physical.

During the incident, Nash allegedly struck the victim, causing noticeable injuries.

Based on the investigation, deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Nash.

On Wednesday, Nash turned himself into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and was booked.

Nash remains incarcerated with bond set at $25,000.

Franklin

Police Chief Morris Beverly said the Franklin Police Department responded to nine complaints over the last 24-hour reporting period and made this arrest:

—Lee Butler, 55, St. Joseph Street, Franklin, was arrested at 10:23 a.m. Tuesday charges of attempted theft and theft (seventh offense). Butler was booked, processed and held on a $5,500. bond.

—Bernard Babino, 47, Ninth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 1:41 p.m. Tuesday on a 3rd Ward City Court warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of simple battery and resisting an officer. Babino was booked, processed and held on a $2,000 bond.

—Altoneshia Dugas, 20, Gum Street, Franklin, was arrested at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday on a 3rd Ward City Court warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of disturbing the peace. Dugas was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

—Susan Boyd, 58, Gumpoint Lane, Franklin, was arrested at 5:57 p.m. Tuesday on charges of theft and remaining where forbid-den. Boyd was booked, processed, and held on a $3,000 bond.

—Dereke Guilbeau, 25, Hamm Street, Franklin, was arrested 8:50 p.m. Tuesday on a 3rd Ward City Court warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of stop sign violation and driving under suspension. Guilbeau was booked, processed and released on a $373 bond.
