“Plus One at an Amish Wedding,” an upcoming movie that was filmed in Stone County last year, was shown to audiences at the Bentonville Film Festival Wednesday morning.

The movie is also currently screening virtually as part of the Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) through July 3. (For more information on how to purchase a BFF virtual screening pass to see the movie and other festival selections during that period, click here.)

“Plus One at an Amish Wedding” will premiere Sept. 25 on UPtv, which is found on major providers such as DirectTV, Dish, and Suddenlink, according to the channel’s website

White River Now’s Gary Bridgman visited with two of the film’s actors in October 2021. Lead actor Kevin Joy told Bridgman the Mountain View area was the perfect place to do most of the filming for the movie.

Joy’s off-screen wife and fellow onscreen lead Galadriel Stineman said she loved filming in the Mountain View area and added that it is truly slow-paced compared to the Los Angeles area where she and Joy currently live. (Click here for the article from October.)

In the movie, Stineman plays a New York woman who travels with a “handsome veterinarian” (Joy) to meet his brother’s family in “Amish Country,” according to a description of the film.

Entering its 8th year, the Bentonville Film Festival is chaired by Academy Award-winner Geena Davis. BFF’s website says the festival is “…a year-long platform culminating with an annual festival in partnership with founding sponsor Walmart and presenting sponsor Coca-Cola.”

BFF will take place with virtual events from today through July 3, 2022, and in-person events in the festival in Bentonville from today June 26, 2022.
