County firefighters battle structure fire on Clermont Lakes Drive Tuesday night

Red Bank/White Knoll, SC 06/22/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Firefighters from the Lexington County Fire Service battled a house fire in the Red Bank/White Knoll area of the county Tuesday night. According to Jessica Imbimbo, spokesperson for the county, the fire was dispatched at 9:35 p.m. in the 200 block of Clermont Lakes Drive between Platt Springs and Bluefield Roads. Imbimbo said that the original caller reported there was an electrical fire in a mobile home.

The first county fire units to arrive on scene found a double wide mobile home with smoke showing from the roof. They also reported active fire in several parts of the home. As a group of firefighters pulled their attack lines to fight the fire, another team set up to run a tanker shuttle operation to supply an uninterrupted flow of water for the fight. This was necessary because there were no fire hydrants in proximity to the burning home.

Imbimbo said that all occupants of the home were able to escape without injury. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the 9 family members who lived in the home.

At the height of the blaze, there were twelve pieces of fire apparatus involved in the fight. Twenty-five fire personnel worked for 3 hours on the scene before the fire was deemed completely out. No county personnel were injured at this fire.
