Why are boutique hotels popping up in the Hudson Valley?; new urgent care opens in Westchester

Over the last few weeks, I spoke with the owners and operators of some boutique hotels in the Hudson Valley and Catskills to find out why they're seemingly popping up overnight around the area. CEO of Salt Hotels, operator of Hutton Brickyards in Kingston, David Bowd said "You can go to a big box hotel anywhere you want to. (Guests) want to go somewhere that is truly special..."

In new business news, CityMD Urgent Care opened their latest Westchester location in Pelham Manor and Hapik, a climbing facility for people ages 4 and older, opened at the Ridge Hill Shopping Center. 

After years of renovations, Mamaroneck Cinemas opened on June 17, giving new life to the Mamaroneck Playhouse, which originally opened in 1925. As a nod to the building's history, exposed brick is visible in the theaters as well as surrounding the concession stand. Movie memorabilia lines the walls. 

In Rockland County, a deal between Ramapo, New Hempstead and the Yeshiva of Greater Monsey may bring a park, land for a new New Hempstead village hall, money for Ramapo and the expansion of land for the yeshiva. Lohud reporter Steve Lieberman took a look at the sale and what it means for the area.
