Dana & Parks: Recent death of child in hot car is especially tragic

A 5-year-old boy in Texas died Monday after being left in a hot car for hours -- but what his parents were doing that led them to forget makes the situation much worse.

According to KidsAndCars.org, which tracks hot car deaths, an average of 39 children die of vehicular heatstroke every year. The deadliest year was 2018, when 54 kids died in hot cars. Last year, 23 kids died in hot cars.

It begs the question, what needs to be done to make senseless deaths like this stop?
