U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) responded to the upcoming vote on the proposed gun violence bill through a tweet.

"Here we are voting to move a bill negotiated behind closed doors, released only an hour ago, that no one has had time to fully read, that ignores, the national crime wave and chips away instead at the fundamental rights of law-abiding citizens. No."

A vote on the bill is expected to happen by the end of the week.
