Symmetry Care Inc. opening a coffee shop

Symmetry Care Inc. is excited to announce a new project aimed at continuing the revitalization of downtown Burns and helping people gain job skills, build self-confidence, and contribute to others.

Symmetry Care purchased the former Hilander Restaurant and will repurpose it into a coffee shop that reflects the aesthetic principles displayed by the Central Hotel, Andalusian, and other downtown buildings that are currently being restored.

Customers should expect to receive excellent coffee, baked items, and lunches in a modern, welcoming space that community members enjoy visiting and feel good about supporting.

Representatives from Symmetry Care said it’s important that the project is an asset to the community, providing first-class products and service, as well as promoting employment opportunities. The foundation for this venture is Symmetry Care’s ranch program, which has been providing job-skills development to clients for more than six years. A coffee shop will expand the range of job skills in an entirely new area.

The former Hilander building will be renovated inside and out. Renovations are expected to take about one year to complete. The goal is to create an inviting, functional interior space with comfortable seating for individuals and groups.

Acknowledging that the Hilander was a treasured part of the community, Symmetry Care plans to add visual touches that honor the history of the restaurant. You may even see a few Hilander-like items on the menu.

There are plans to use the restaurant’s outdoor space, so customers may take advantage of Harney County’s typically dry weather. (Heaters will be provided!) This space will create a positive place for socializing and community connectedness.

Symmetry Care is currently accepting applications for a coffee shop manager and assistant manager. These positions will start immediately, as managers will be instrumental in setting up the new space. This will also enable the mangers to become fully familiar with the building and equipment. These positions are vital to the success of the program, which is reflected in the wages and benefits that are being offered. Employees will be tasked with managing a successful business that integrates well with other local business, while contributing to local people and organizations.

The entire Symmetry Care team is excited to start the new venture and hopes everyone will enjoy being part of something new. Symmetry Care would like to thank its Board of Directors, and others at the state and local levels, for supporting this innovative concept. The organization will work hard to implement this program and looks forward to serving the community in a new way.
