"Give people what they’re paying for," said Jerry Jackson.
The source of his frustration is the company that owns the bright orange dumpster in his driveway, Cards Recycling, to which Jerry has been paying for weekly pickup.
"Last week was the first time they’ve picked up our trash in five weeks," he said.
And Jerry says he's not alone with his service woes, that others are frustrated as well but afraid to speak up since Cards is the only game in town.
"Every one of them that I asked to be here for you today declined to do it in fear that when this airs they’re going to walk out the next morning and their trash service has been picked up and no longer available to them," he said.
We spoke with the owner of Cards who was unavailable for an interview but told us that he looked up Jerry's account and that the last three weeks have been good on pickups; he even went himself and offered a $90 dollar credit.
"He says he doesn’t, what else could he do for an unhappy customer?" asked NewsChannel 8 reporter Burt Mummolo.
"It’s again, like I said earlier, it’s not just about me, I mean they have finally come out and picked mine up but the problem throughout the community is not been resolved," said Jackson.
The reliability of the company, he says, has been steadily declining for a while, and on top of that, the price for trash pickup just went up dramatically.
"Our bill took a 30% increase this month. Went from $60 a month to $90. No notification, no anything, it's just hit the bill. And this is just crazy," he said.
If push comes to shove, he says he may just take his own trash to the local drop-off site a few miles away, and that he hopes his speaking out will help improve service for his community.
How would you like to see this resolved? What do you want to come out of this? "Well, that’s really kind of a hard question, it should be simple but we want a fair price and we want a dependable service. Give us what we’re paying for," said Jackson.
