Watch: Historic female high school football player featured in latest "No Days Off" episode.

Mepham high school wide receiver Sofia LaSpina became the first female varsity high school football player to score a touchdown in Long Island history. Since then, she has broken the stigma around women in the game while her work ethic has made her a role model for other women and football players across the country.

In this episode of "No Days Off: Fuel Tomorrow" presented by Gatorade, LaSpina shows us the grind of training for next season. Gatorade's Fuel Tomorrow is an equity in sports initiative with the goal of helping all athletes to have equal opportunities to play sports and realize their true potential. LaSpina is the embodiment of what Gatorade is trying to achieve.

LaSpina started playing football in 7th grade. She was the only girl on the team. She climbed her way up the depth chart until earning the starting job.

After scoring her historic touchdown, she went viral, making news headlines and appearing in NFL commercials. The New York Jets awarded her free box-seat tickets to a game, where she met Jets legend Joe Namath.

Laspina's teammates and coaches all had positive things to say about her, calling her a passionate and dedicated team player who isn't afraid to be a leader when called upon. During practice, she is often the first person there and the last to leave.
