In Loving Memory of Conchita “Concha” San Roman

Conchita Concha San Roman

( December 11, 1928 – June 08, 2022 )

Conchita “Concha” San Roman, age 93, was reunited with her Husband David “Baldi” San Roman, and went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at her home in Raton, NM.  Concha was born on December 11, 1928 in Brilliant, NM to Ambrosio and Concepcion Avila.

Concha was a member of the St. Patrick-St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Mayordomos as well as many other activities in the Church.  She was very committed to her Faith in the Lord and prayed daily for her children, grandchildren, and family.  She also believed in having to work for a living early in her childhood from taking care of her siblings at a young age due to the death of her mother to raising her own children with her husband, Baldi.  At times, having to get off one job, make dinner for her family, and head out to another.  From waitressing at The Famous Yucca Hotel to The Spur Lounge to baking at Johnny’s Bakery where there was never a dull moment with Owner, Johnny Bacca where the pranks were numerous.  She then became employed at ARF Products as a Head Inspector assembling electronic components for the Military amongst other electronics up until her Retirement.  Although, Retirement didn’t last long because she loved to work. Conchita ventured out into the retail clothing business and worked at Anthony’s Department Store for several years and finishing her career at The Main Place.  Those who knew Conchita knew she would always be dressed to “The Nine’s” and looked beautiful everywhere she went.  She loved to exercise, walk and work out up into her early 80s, and most importantly, she loved to bake/cook.  She was well known for her food and baked goods. From tamales to Povetica and other baked goodies, they knew she would be bringing something tasty to the breakroom.   Christmas came rolling in and so would the orders but she always made sure that her husband and her children were her first priority.  Her baking/cooking will definitely be missed by many especially her family.

Concha was preceded in death by her husband of 60+ years David “Baldi” San Roman, her parents Ambrosio & Concepcion Avila, infant son David San Roman, brothers Ambrose Avila and Segundino “Cunnie” Moreno, sisters Ruth “Cuca” Calderon, Vita Johnson, Josie Carson, Antonia “Auntie”  Cortez, Mary Rivera and Guadalupe “Lupe” Avila;  Son-in-law Tom Chavez and Great Grandson Karl Lucero.  She is survived by her children; daughters Linda Chavez of Raton, NM and Judy Ruth Reyes of Long Beach, CA, sons David Aaron San Roman (Marquetta) of Raton, NM and Marc San Roman of Raton, NM; Brother and Sister-in-Law Gilbert and Bettye San Roman of Raton, NM and Sisters-in-law Nellie Avila of East Hollywood, CA and Anna Marie San Roman of Torrance, CA; Grandchildren Anna and Robert Lucero, Jodi and Stephen Chavez, Gino and Kristofer Reyes, David John and Nicole San Roman, Veronica Crawford, Christopher San Roman, Nicholas, and Miranda Godbey, Tristan Perez and Mykayla San Roman (her Muneca); 11 Great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends which Concha considered family.
