REPAIRS HAPPENING IN THE WORK STILL LEFT TO BE DONE. CHAMAI IS ON DAY TWO OF NO WATER POTABLE WATER AND WATER BOTTLES IS WHAT RESIDENTS ARE LEFT WITH THIS IS AFTER A LEAK LEFT THE ENTIRE VILLAGE PLEADING FOR HELP. NOW THE MAYOR HAD A MEETING WITH THE NEW MEXICO ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT. WE REQUESTED FIVE SEMI TRUCKS TO HAUL WATER TO OUR WATER PLANT WITH THE PLANT AND THE TRUCKERS WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO FILL UP OUR TANKS FIND THE LEAK FIX IT AND MOVE FORWARD THAT REQUEST HAS NOT BEEN ACCEPTED OR DENIED IN A STATEMENT. THE ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT SAYS $800,000 IN CAPITAL OUTLAY FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE TO THE VILLAGE OF CHAMA THE MAYOR SAYS AROUND 100,000 OF THOSE FUNDS HAVE BEEN USED FOR REPAIRS. PROBABLY GOING TO BE A LOT HIGHER. BECAUSE WE HAVEN’T RECEIVED THE BILLS YET FOR THE LEAGUE DETECTION COMPANY THAT’S COMING IN TOMORROW. HE SAYS THE REST OF THE MONEY WILL BE USED FOR A PLANNED REPAIR PROJECT. WE HAD HAD A PILOT STUDY LAST WEEK AS TO HOW TO IMPROVE THE WATER PLANT. WELL, THAT IN ITSELF IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE IN THE RANGE OF 350 TO 500 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO DO THE UPGRADE TO THE PLAN B HILL SAYS THE CAPITAL OUTLAY FUNDS USUALLY NEED TO BE APPROVED. No water and no estimated time for when it will come back this is life, for the village of Chama right now.Chama is on day two of no water. Potable water and water bottles is what residents are left with.This is after a leak left the entire village pleading for help. The mayor of Chama, Ernest Vigil, had a meeting with the New Mexico Environment Department. Vigil said, “We requested five semitrucks to haul water to our water plant. With the plant and the help of the truckers we should be able to fill the tanks and find the leak and fix and move forward.” That request has not been accepted or denied. The NMED says $800,000 in capital outlay funds are available to the Village of Chama. The mayor says around $100,000 of those funds have been used for repairs.
