Veterans Encouraged to Enroll for VA Care

One of the biggest benefits veterans can miss out on is health care from the VA.  That’s why they’re holding an enrollment event next month in Alpena.

The Lieutenant Colonel Clement C. Van Wagoner VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic is where the enrollment event is happening.

All veterans in the surrounding area not currently enrolled for VA benefits, who are able, are encouraged to go to the event.  That’s even if you think you’re not eligible.  You may be passing up important primary care, mental health, social work, housing, finance and legal benefits, just to name a few.

“They find that maybe they had a service connected illness or injury that they’ve never put a claim in for.  Once you become eligible through a service connected injury or illness, then income no longer matters, basically,” said Carrie Seward, VA Strategic Planner and Outreach Coordinator.

The enrollment event is happening on Wednesday, July, 20 at the VA outpatient clinic in Alpena from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Staff will be on hand to answer questions and get you signed up.

If you’re not able to attend, you can apply online .
