Sullivan County deputy fired, charged with theft

A former Sullivan County, Tennessee deputy is facing theft charges for allegedly falsifying timesheets.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Cody Cookenour, 36, has been indicted on one count of theft of more than $1,000. He turned himself in Tuesday afternoon and was booked into the Sullivan County Jail.
Cookenour is accused of falsifying timesheets on multiple occasions between April 2021 and March 2022 by reporting hours he did not work. He is no longer employed with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office.
