'Dune: Part Two': Léa Seydoux Joins The Cast Of Denis Villeneuve's Sci-Fi Sequel

As if the “Dune” franchise wasn’t already stacked with A-listers, it appears that filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is pulling out all of the stops for his upcoming sequel, bringing in plenty more stars. And his latest addition to the ‘Dune’ franchise is one of the best actresses working today.

According to Deadline, Léa Seydoux has been cast as Lady Margot in the upcoming “Dune: Part Two,” which is scheduled to be released next year. The film continues the story of the first film and follows the young Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) as he begins his new life in the desert world of Arrakis. Seydoux is set to play a Bene Gesserit in the new film, joining the likes of Rebecca Ferguson’s Lady Jessica.

Seydoux is one of the most popular French actresses in film today. She is probably best known for her role in the James Bond franchise, as well as her breakout performance in the film, “Blue is the Warmest Color.”

Seydoux joins an all-star cast that includes folks such as Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Josh Brolin, who all showed up in “Dune: Part One,” as well Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Austin Butler, who all play new characters in the upcoming sequel. Also returning from the first film is director Villeneuve, who reteams with writer John Spaihts to co-write the sequel. ‘Part Two’ will conclude the story began in the first ‘Dune,’ though Villeneuve has expressed the desire to do a third film, “Dune: Messiah,” if the demand is still there.

Production is expected to begin soon on “Dune: Part Two,” which follows the massive success of the first film, both with its huge pandemic-era box office total ($400 million worldwide) and its awards season success (winning six Oscars earlier this year). “Dune: Part Two” currently has an October 20, 2023 release date.
