‘American Idol’ alum Scotty McCreery expecting baby boy with pregnant wife

Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi Dugal, are expecting their first baby in November.

The couple, who got married in June 2018 after dating for six years, gushed to People about what a “good time” it is to “settle down a little and expand the family.”

The Season 10 “American Idol” winner, 28, explained, “We’ve gotten to live a lot of life and do some cool things.”

The country singer noted that he plans to bring his wife, also 28, and their son on the road with him while on tour in the future.

“It might not be every week, and we’ll see how the baby likes the road life, but it’d be nice just selfishly to have Gabi and the baby out there with me,” the songwriter said, adding, “I don’t want to miss anything with him growing up.”

McCreery revealed he did, however, nearly miss his partner’s subtle pregnancy reveal.

Dugal planned to break the news that she was expecting while picking McCreery up from the airport before going to dinner. But when his flight got delayed, the mom-to-be didn’t get the chance — and hoped her choice to abstain from alcohol would clue him in.

“I’m over there drinking beers, having a good time, and she’s like, ‘I think I’ll just lay low tonight,’ so I was like ‘OK,’” McCreery recalled. “I didn’t think anything of it.”

Now that the country star knows he has an infant on the way, he feels prepared knowing that Dugal has experience as a pediatric nurse.

“If the baby coughs I’ll be like, ‘Hey Gabi is this OK? What’s happening here?’” he said.

“So knowing she has that experience, I think will be huge.”

Dugal’s job makes her feel more at ease as well, with the University of North Carolina grad saying, “Changing diapers multiple times a day and figuring out how to soothe the baby when they’re upset for sure has helped [prepare me].”

The pair were expecting to have a girl, even picking out a name, but now can’t wait to “dive in and meet the little man.”

McCreery, who clarified that he would have been “stoked” either way, said, “I grew up playing sports so getting to introduce him to baseball, which was my first love right there with music, and golf are just little things that [will be great].”

The “Damn Strait” singer received supportive comments from his fellow country crooners after sharing Dugal’s pregnancy news via Instagram.

“Welcome to the daddy club,” Chris Lane wrote on Tuesday, while Jon Langston added, “Congrats brother !! Happy for y’all!!”
