Saxton Borough Police in Bedford County say Charles McCahan is accused of strangling his mother to death in January. They say he’s been charged with Criminal Homicide, Strangulation and Aggravated Assault. McCahan was arraigned on the charges Friday.
Police say they caught him breaking into a garage on January 19 when he informed them that his Mother, Ouita Paige McCahan, was dead back at their apartment where they both lived. During an interview, Investigators say McCahan told them his Mother had a seizure, fell down the steps, and broke her neck. However, Police say an Autopsy found the woman died of Manual Strangulation and other injuries.
McCahan is being held in the Bedford County Prison and his bail was denied.
