Broward County, FL - A dashcam video captured a car carrier colliding with a South Florida overpass, sending a van and debris flying onto the roadway below.
The accident occurred around 10 a.m. on Sunday near the Interstate 95 onramp from Interstate 595.
Dashcam video captured a van being hauled by the car carrier smashing into the overpass and falling onto the road below. Other drivers had to swerve away to avoid being hit by debris.
The van appeared to be hoisted up too high, resulting in the crash.
Brian McConnell, who witnessed the crash, tells Local 10 News "boom. There was a cloud of dust, it looked like the whole thing exploded. It was chaos. It happened in a split second.”
Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that a gray Toyota SUV crashed into the Chevy Express after it fell off the car hauler.
FHP says traffic citations were issued.
The overpass has been repaired.
