Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Scott County that killed one person on Friday.

According to police, a 1988 Ford Ranger was traveling west on Route 58 when it ran off the road, hit a tree at the bottom of the embankment, and turned over.

Authorities state the driver, 34-year-old Derick Wood of Bristol, Virginia, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

An investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
