A fiery two-vehicle crash shut down Highway 6 outside Edina for a few hours Monday.
It happened at 11:15 a.m. about two miles east of Edina.
The Edina Sentinel reports that a pickup truck and tractor-trailer hauling soybeans collided at that location.
The big rig was on its side and on fire in the highway.
The newspaper said the soybeans were scattered across the roadway.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the big rig was driven by Larry Howard, 70, of Brashear. The driver of the pickup was Linda Early, 79, of Edina.
State troopers say Howard was in the process of passing the pickup when the pickup made a left turn into the grain truck.
Early suffered minor injuries and was taken to Samaritan Hospital in Macon for treatment.
Howard suffered serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The pickup truck had extensive damage to the driver's side, and the airbags had all deployed.
Both lanes of the highway reopened to traffic at 4:20 p.m. Monday.
