Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-Kidder County (KC) Post 231 took advantage of 7 Carrington fielding/throwing errors and cruised to a 12-1 District 4 win over Post 25. The game was shortened to 5 innings due to the 10 run rule.  KC also took advantage of 5 walks and 6 hit batters allowed by the Carrington pitchers. KC had just 3 hits in the game and had 3 earned runs.  Grant Pfaff went 2-3 for KC driving in 5 runs, run scored, was hit by pitch, and added a stolen base to lead the Post 231 offense. Simon Hager added the other hit for KC going 1-3, BB, and a run scored. Collin Zimmerman scored 3 runs, reaching base 3 times (2 BB and HBP). Starting pitcher Blake Braun went 0-0 at the plate, walked twice, hit by pitch twice, and scored 2 runs.

Braun allowed just 1 run picking up the mound win, struck out 3 batters, scattered 5 hits, and did not allow a walk or hot batter. Hudson Schmitz went 1-2 for Carrington and had the lone RBI doubling in Jack Erickson in the first inning after Erickson reached on a double. Braun retired 10 straight batter between the second and fifth innings before allowing consecutive 2 out singles to Kyle Johnson and Grady Shipman. Shipman took the mound loss, allowing 10 runs (3 earned), 6 strikeouts, 5 walks, 2 hits, and hit 4 batters.

KC improved to 5-1 overall, 3-1 in district play and Carrington dropped to 2-3 overall and district play. Carrington will travel to Wishek on Monday (June 2oth) in District 4 play with a 5:00 start. The game will be aired on AM 1600 KDAK (THE CARDINAL), FM 100.1, and www.newsdakota.com
