Rockets keeping Boban Marjanovic?

Though the Rockets traded Wood because he no longer fit with the rebuild and to acquire a first-round pick, the Rockets are weighing keeping Marjanovic as one of the center options they are considering. They are not expected to keep other players acquired in the deal — Marquese Chriss, Sterling Brown and Trey Burke.

If I were the Nuggets, I would simply game plan for a roster with 14 players and reserve the 15th spot for a Boban Marjanovic buyout/release from Houston. – 4:36 PM

The free-agent class at center is considered unusually deep with players that might be available to teams, including the Rockets, that are over the cap but can offer the full mid-level exception, starting at $10.5 million. The Nets are considered unlikely to match a mid-level offer to Nic Claxton. -via Houston Chronicle / June 19, 2022
The Rockets have been trying to trade Wood since the 2021 NBA Draft and this was the first offer they’ve received in a year that included a first-round pick, a source told ClutchFans. Also, look for the Rockets to aggressively try to use #17 and #26 to move up OR to move out of the draft by trading one of those picks for a future pick. -via Clutchfans / June 19, 2022
After trading Christian Wood to Dallas, now Houston is trying to find a deal for Eric Gordon, with the Rockets widely known to be seeking a first-round pick for Gordon like they managed in the Wood deal. -via marcstein.substack.com / June 18, 2022
