What makes you a top prospect at your position  in the 2023 NFL Draft?

I think what makes me a top prospect in my class is ultimately what I bring to the field. I bring a sense of dominance and edge and pair that with my skill set. I am a very physical tight end that likes to make a defender pay and that’s both in blocking and with the ball in my hands. I also bring a natural born leadership to the field as well.

At what age were you first interested in the sport of football?

I first became interested in football when I was 6 years old.

What is one thing that NFL teams should know about you?

I think one thing an NFL team should know about me is that I am one of the hardest working young men they will ever meet. I am dedicated to my craft and driven to be the best tight end to ever play this game

If you could donate to one cause in the world, what would it be?

If I could donate to one cause in the world it would be the American Cancer Society to help find a cure for cancer. And I choose this foundation because cancer has directly affected my family through the years but it hit home this year when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I have ever received is when my mother first told me about the scripture 1 John 4:4, which reads “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” This is the best advice given to me because it states how I am a child of God and how I have been able to do so much because of him. It always allows me to fall back on my religion and my foundation. And that’s why that Bible Verse is on the side of my cleats. It all allows me to ultimately trust God and know that he is with me through any and everything, and knowing that allows me to compete at the highest level everyday.

Who was your childhood hero?

My childhood hero was and still is my father because he raised me and my brother and showed us what it meant to be a man. He would get up early in the morning sometimes at 3:00 am to go to work driving trucks and not getting home sometimes till 7:00 or 8:00 at night. But you would never hear him complain, he does it on the daily basis and provides so that’s why my father is my childhood hero.

Who is the most underrated teammate in your locker room at your school?

I think the most underrated teammate in the locker room right now is probably our offensive linemen Marquez Mayo and Devon King both guys are some of the hardest working players on our roster and are not only pushing each other to be great but everybody else around them. Thats both in film, the weight room, as well as on the field. Those are guys you want in your program and look for them to have a big year this year.  Another player I would say is our runningback Damashja Harris, he’s been a fighter all his life and has a huge chip on his shoulder going into this season. He’s got a lot to play for and I would go to war with him any day of the week because that guy is a baller and can flat out play.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

My biggest pet peeve is probably just people who say they want something or want to be great but don’t want to put in the work for it. That’s a big thing for me.

Overcoming adversity is what defines character, what was the hardest moment in your life to overcome?

The hardest moment in my life to overcome was when I was a freshman in college. We were going into our last game of the year and I was blessed and fortunate enough to be a true freshman. As we were arriving at the stadium to play my cousin had called me during the pregame as we were walking the field, and he told me that another one of my cousins had passed earlier that morning in a car crash. It was a tough moment that broke me mentally because he was one of my role models that I looked up to growing up and I had to man up and play that game for him because it was something I knew he would want.

Tell me something about your school and why it is so special to you?

Lamar is a school that sits right in the heart of Southeast, TX. The people of Beaumont are loving and a big community that treat everybody as if they were born and raised there the second you come. And I think that’s why my school is so special to me. Being at Lamar has allowed me to grow as a person and build long lasting relationships with some people I would have never thought about,

What is your favorite snack food?

My all time my favorite snack food is sour patch kids.

What is the best part of football?

I think the best part about football is you get to impose your will on your opponent. It’s a game that’s both mental and physical and it has its moments where it becomes mano y mano when your matched up with the opposing team.

If you could sell yourself in one sentence what would you say?

To any team that picks me up they will be getting a young man that is committed to the work, a young man that is gamechanger ready to take on any role set in front of him, and a young man that is a sponge ready to soak up and learn all the knowledge he can to become one of the best to ever play this game.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be?

If I could compare my play to one player in the NFL it would be George Kittle. Nowadays you don’t see many in-line tight ends that love blocking and asserting their will on their opponents and that’s what I love about George Kittle as he is one of those old school tight ends that can catch the ball and make big plays but also enjoys blocking a defensive end or linebacker and putting him on his butt. Which everything I enjoy while playing as well, catching the ball and making plays but also making sure the defense feels me in the run game.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would it be and why?

If I could have dinner with three people dead or alive it would probably be Lebron James, Barack Obama, and Shannon Sharpe. I choose these men because they were all game changers in what they did in their lives to this point. Lebron James a known philanthropist to the lower income areas and an active advocate of athletes being more than just athletes , Barack Obama the first African American to become the President of the United States and Shannon Sharpe a prime example of what my mother always preached to us growing up of making sure we can be top athletes in our respective sport but also be more than that, and have some essence to yourself. He displays that every week as a lot of people give athletes the stereotype of a dumb jock, but he shuts that stereotype down has he speaks on Undisputed every week, and displays he is more than just an athlete. And for that reason I would have dinner with these 3 icons.
