MU Health Care plans new clinic in Audrain County to 'increase patient access'

Dr. Diane Jacobi will continue to serve her patients in Audrain County at a new MU Health Care clinic in Mexico.

Following a suspension of services by Noble Health, MU Health Care has announced it will open a family medicine and urgent care clinic later this summer in Mexico.

The new facility, located at 3626 S. Clark St., will offer a convenient, cost-effective option for adults and children needing urgent but not life-threatening medical care, Dr. Matthew Robinson, MU Health's emergency medicine chair, said in a news release Friday.

“This location will increase patient access to care and will feature MU Health Care emergency medicine providers to offer care seven days a week,” Robinson said.

In March, Noble Health announced it was suspending services at Audrain Community Hospital and Callaway Community Hospital “in order to restructure their operations and become financially viable.”

MU Health leaders began working with Noble Health to ensure access to medical care, according to the MU Health release.

Dr. Michael LeFevre, chair of the MU School of Medicine’s Department of Family and Community Medicine and a physician at MU Health, said the goal is to maintain local access to quality health care.

“Our new family medicine clinic in Audrain County will continue to help us fulfill our mission, ensuring citizens in this community receive expert care from doctors they know and trust,” LeFevre said.

The new location will feature former Noble Health Audrain Community Hospital family medicine providers Dr. Diane Jacobi and nurse practitioner Regina Hill. Other former providers, nurses and support staff will also be joining the team.

The new facility will allow health care providers to connect patients with the university’s health care network, featuring more than 600 doctors in more than 80 specialties, Jacobi said in the release.

“Primary care is extremely important to this region, and I am thrilled to be able to continue to serve my patients right here in Audrain County,” Jacobi said.
