United States Geological Survey says it was a magnitude 3.9 earthquake

A shaky start Saturday morning.The United States Geological Survey has confirmed a magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck near Metter, Georgia around 4 a.m. this morning.The epicenter of the earthquake was near Reedy Creek off of Highway 23 N.The USGS initially reported the Candler County earthquake as a magnitude 4.5 in it's preliminary assessment.The earthquake hit at a depth of around 0.8 km and could be felt across Southeast and Central Georgia.Shaking was reported in Savannah, Statesboro, Bluffton, Augusta, Macon and as far away as Columbia, South Carolina.No serious damage from the earthquake has been reported at this time.The Candler County Sheriffs Office currently has deputies out searching for any damage.Please report any damage to EMA at (912) 685-4600.
