Two County Commissioner Seats Up for Grabs in Primary

There will be a primary election in Grant County on August 2, 2022. The county offices up for election include two county commissioner seats and precinct committeemen and committeewomen positions.

For County Commissioner in District 1, former commissioner Marty Long, Republican, has filed and will be running against Sam Hayden, Republican.  This is the seat currently held by Janet Stewart who announced that she will not seek reelection. In District 2, Kevin Shapland will be running for reelection for the office as a Republican. John Martin, also a Republican, is also running for the position.

For Precinct Committeeman, Jerry K. Caldwell has filed for precinct 1, Thomas J. Fuhrman for precinct 2, Roger A. Flummerfelt has filed for precinct 3 and J. Stephen Alford for precinct 4. Rhonda D. Anderson has filed for precinct 1 committeewoman, Margaret Nightengale for precinct 2, Dee Longoria in precinct 3 and Kathy Olson has filed for precinct 4. All eight candidates are Republicans.

There has been one filing for District 124 House of Representatives. David Younger, a Republican, will be vying for the seat currently held by Marty Long, who will not be seeking reelection.

There will also be a number of Federal, State and District offices up for election with candidates being selected for each party in the Primary election. The primary winners will move on to the General election which will be held November 8, 2022.
