Law & Order: May 30-June 12

The following is a summary of incidences that occurred or were reported to the Cordova Police Department May 30 through June 12, 2022. Defendant(s) are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday, May 30:

  • 12:19 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 12:39 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.
  • 11:15 a.m. A resident came to the station to report a simple assault.
  • 5:06 p.m. The Emergency Medical Services team and Fire Rescue responded to a 911 call at Ski Hill. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.
  • 7:13 p.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a medivac transport call. The patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport.
  • 9:23 p.m. An officer issued a warning to a Motorist on Second Street.

Tuesday, May 31:

  • 12:04 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.
  • 10:49 a.m. A resident came to the station to be fingerprinted.
  • 11:05 a.m. An officer responded to a report a black Collie running loose on the Copper River Highway by Chase Avenue.
  • 2:39 p.m. A resident came to the station to drop off (two) knives found on the side of the Copper River Highway past Alaganik to be entered into Lost and Found. If you can describe these knives, they’re yours!
  • 8:58 p.m. The Fire Department responded to a 911 report of a vehicle fire on Fifth Street.

Wednesday, June 1:

  • 12:15 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.
  • 1:36 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 11:00 a.m. Dispatch received a report of harassment.
  • 5:00 p.m. Drug information was provided to an officer which resulted in an investigation being opened.
  • 5:11 p.m. A resident came to the station to drop off a found wallet. The owner’s Driver’s License was inside the wallet, so Dispatch contacted the owner who later came to the station to claim it.

Thursday, June 2:

  • 12:06 a.m. Two Officers went out on general patrol.
  • 11:44 a.m. Three Officers served a search warrant which was a result of the drug investigation.

Friday, June 3:

  • Nothing to Report

Saturday, June 4:

  • 12:37 a.m. An officer responded to a dog complaint.
  • 2:30 a.m. An officer responded to a vehicle theft report where a minor was alleged to have taken a car without permission.
  • 4:57 a.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop on Railroad and Industry Avenues as a result of the vehicle theft report. A Katelyn Scott, age 16, of Cordova, Alaska, was arrested for Driving in Violation of an Instructional Permit, and DUI. Three other minor passengers were cited for Minor Consuming Alcohol and released to their parents. 
  • 5:33 p.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 call on Lake Avenue. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

Sunday, June 5:

  • 5:45 p.m. An officer conducted a security check on Nicholoff Way.
  • 6:58 p.m. An officer responded to two individuals’ request for assistance.
  • 10:23 p.m. An officer responded to a 911 call from the Alaskan Bar regarding a fight. The fight had broken up prior to the officer’s arrival and the involved parties had left the scene. 

Monday, June 6:

  • 12:17 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 9:49 a.m. A resident reported two women’s bikes abandoned on Adam’s Avenue. The bikes were brought to the police station. If you are missing your bike, please call to claim.
  • 12:09 p.m. The Fire Department responded to a commercial fire alarm at Trident North. This was a false alarm.
  • 12:15 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a motorist driving erratically.

Tuesday, June 7:

  • 12:31 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 2:05 p.m. A resident called to report a reckless and verbally antagonistic driver.
  • 7:18 p.m. An officer responded to a report of alleged suspicious activity in and around the old Cordova High School building on Browning Avenue.
  • 10:09 p.m. An officer responded to a report of Jet Skiers enjoying Eyak Lake. The individuals were out of the water when the officer arrived.

Wednesday, June 8:

  • 12:29 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 2:36 p.m. The Fire Department responded to a report of a spilled fuel tank at the intersection of Council Avenue and Third Street.
  • 7:23 p.m. An officer responded to a report of vandalism in the 3rd floor men’s bathroom of The Cordova Center.

Thursday, June 9:

  • 12:18 a.m. An officer responded to a report of an alleged intoxicated individual playing loud music on the corner of Lake Avenue and Second Street. The individual was provided safe transportation to residence.
  • 1:54 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 6:57 a.m. A resident turned in a wallet containing identification to Lost and Found property.

Friday, June 10:

  • 1:33 p.m. An officer served Court documents.
  • 2:20 p.m. An officer issued a warning to a motorist on Cannery Row.
  • 3:19 p.m. A resident reported a dog allegedly stolen from vehicle. The Harbor Master located the dog and returned to owner.
  • 5:18 p.m. A resident came to the station to be fingerprinted.
  • 6:32 p.m. An officer responded to a request for assistance from a local company to trespass an individual for making verbal threats.
  • 8:32 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

Saturday, June 11:

  • 1:25 p.m. Joshua Donaldson, age 38, of Cordova, Alaska, was arrested on a warrant for Violation of Conditions of Release. After arrest Donaldson was found to be in violation of his release conditions and was charged with another count of violating his conditions of release.

Sunday, June 12:

  • 12:47 p.m. Dispatch received a 911 report of an owner walking (2) dogs off-leash in between Second and Third Streets. The dog owner was contacted about the incident.

Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. Closed 11:30 a.m. to noon for lunch. Credit card payment accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
