Will Forte is slated to star in Bodkin, the Obamas' first scripted drama series at Netflix.

Bodkin is a seven-episode comedic thriller that follows a group of podcasters investigating the disappearance of three strangers in a coastal Irish town. Forte will play Gilbert Power, an American podcaster on the hunt for the next big story. He travels to Ireland to learn more about his family's roots and finds himself enmeshed in this new case.

Other cast members include Siobhan Cullen, Robyn Cara, David Wilmot, and Chris Walley.

Barack and Michelle Obama executive produce the series through their Higher Ground production company, while Jez Scharf and Alex Metcalf serve as co-showrunners, and Nash Edgerton directs.

"We are ecstatic to partner with wiip for this wickedly wry thriller which questions truth, narrative, and the very purpose of each," said Tonia Davis, who heads film and TV for Higher Ground. "This entire creative team — Jez, Alex, Nash and the phenomenal cast led by Will Forte and Siobhan Cullen — will bring to life something very special and we can't wait to share it with audiences around the world."
