Burlington Swim Team

In their second meet of the 2022 summer season, the Burlington Swim Team traveled to Goodland.
“Our swimmers came to compete. They all tried their best and it showed,” head coach Jeff Yager praised. “All of our younger swimmers improved their times. It was great to see as a coach.
“I really want to express that without all my assistant coaches we wouldn’t have made even a quarter of the progress that the kids have made. I want to thank Christy Lindenschmidt, Erin Gram, Katy Gay and Candice Schaal for all their hard work. They have helped the kids work hard this last week to get in shape and improve in all events. It was a hot day for all of us but luckily it wasn’t an all-day meet.
Yager praised several swimmers on the squad, including Lynzee Neal (Girls 13-14), Grayson Cure (Boys 9-10) and Nevaeh Cure (Boys 11-12), who all scored well.
“This was Alondra Cuenca’s (Girls 11-12) first swim meet, and she swam her heart out. I was happy that she decided to come to Goodland,” Yager said. “Ethan Beck (Boys 11-12) surprised me this week by swimming the 200-yard freestyle. That is our second longest event we have. He did really well.”
Burlington swims in the Northwest Kansas Swim League. The season has two meets remaining, with the team swimming at Oakley Saturday, June 18, and wrapping up the season on at the league meet in Colby on June 25 (and possibly June 26).
The season was shortened by two meets this year because the league lost a couple teams.
