Authorities in Centre County say a State College man was flown to the hospital early Wednesday morning after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a skateboard in Ferguson Township.
Police say the incident occurred just after 6 a.m. near the intersection of South Foxpointe Drive and Autumnwood Drive.
Investigators say the 41-year-old skateboarder was crossing the roadway when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Police say the skateboarder was flown to UPMC Altoona for treatment of life-threatening injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.
Investigators say the driver of the vehicle was uninjured in the crash.
Authorities say, according to their preliminary investigation, it is believed that the skateboarder did not stop at the posted stop sign prior to entering the intersection.
Ferguson Township police are continuing to investigate.
