City of Birmingham to open cooling station

Birmingham, AL – As the heat advisory for our area continues, the City of Birmingham will again open a cooling station to the public today, Wednesday, June 15, at the Boutwell Auditorium, located at 1930 Reverend Abraham Woods Jr. Boulevard. Those needing cool shelter can come to the lower level from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

In collaboration with One Roof, shelter is also provided by our ongoing partners: The Salvation Army, 2015 26th Ave. North; the Firehouse Shelter (for men), 626 Second Ave. North; and First Light (for women), 2230 Fourth Ave. North. In particular, Firehouse Shelter, First Light and Pathways will have their day centers open on extended hours and provide plenty of ice and water.
