Garth Garrett Swett was born June 14, 1991 in Bassett, NE to Steve and Ellen (Kast) Swett. He died May 21, 2022 at O’Neill, NE at the age of 30.

Garth grew up in Long Pine, NE with his two older sisters Amanda “Mandy” (Swett) Turpin and RanDell Swett. From a young age, Garth was the “wild child” of the family and could always be found stirring up trouble with his friends or tormenting his sisters - a tradition he carried into his adult life. Garth graduated from Ainsworth High School in 2010.

After high school, Garth followed his passion for cattle ranching, working for several area ranchers and slowly growing his own herd. While following his dreams of ranching, Garth was also busy growing his family through his three children Kolby, MacKynzi and Brysen.

Garth had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, ranching, camping, and other various outdoor activities with his children and friends. Garth had a passion for building and restoring pickups and could always be recognized by the sound of his foot on the gas or by the grease on his hands. During wrestling season, Garth could be found in the matroom, helping coach. He was a member of the Long Pine and South Pine Fire Departments for many years. After pursuing his dream of ranching, Garth began his unlikely career for Shawn Fernau Construction - where he quickly picked up the trade and excelled, much to his own surprise. Those who knew Garth could attest to his hard-working nature and his ability to make anyone laugh. Garth was the friend you could call for help at any time of the day or night. More than anything, Garth loved his three children and was always spending time teaching them new things.

Garth is survived by his three children, Kolby, MacKynzi and Brysen Swett of Ainsworth; parents, Steve and Ellen Swett of Long Pine; sisters, RanDell Swett (Justin Reed) and Amanda Swett-Turpin (Craig Hollenbeck) of Long Pine; nieces, Jayden Swett, Stevei Turpin and Kennedei Turpin; nephew, Tailor Turpin; closest cousin, Tyler Cress of Ainsworth; and countless friends he adopted as his family.
