Flood Advisory issued June 15 at 7:29PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg
* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…Avery and Mitchell counties in western North Carolina.
* WHEN…Until 1030 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 725 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain due to slowly moving thunderstorms.
Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the
advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen
over the past hour.
– Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area through 9 pm.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Newland, Elk Park, Crossnore, Minneapolis and Altamont.
Flooding will most likely along the North Toe River and
associated tributaries, including along Reuben, Henson, and
Birchfield Creeks.
