In Arkansas, you can still vote in the runoff races even if you did not participate during the primary elections that were held in May, according to election workers.Nathaniel Teague turned 18 a few weeks ago. He voted for the very first time on Wednesday."I'm definitely somewhat excited because I've never done this before. We have a voting system for a reason. I prefer to be able to vote, that way my voice can be heard," he said.Teague and his mother, Bonita, voted early in the Crawford County Republican runoff races."Yes, I am very proud of him. He wants to make a difference and the only way to do that is to vote," she said.Madison Yates is a schoolteacher in Van Buren. She also decided to take advantage of early voting ahead of election day on Tuesday, June 21.“I'm super excited to do my part for our community. I tell my Nana, that if you don't vote you can't complain, so you got to come out and do our part so we can do what's best for our area,” Yates said. “I think it's my responsibility as a community member for Crawford County and I learned in high school from my teachers just how important it is to be out and about and involved in our community because our vote really does matter."In the Crawford County Republican runoff races, Daniel Perry and Shannon “Pudge” Gregory are competing to be the next sheriff.Voters will choose between Chris Keith and Raymond Dale Harvey to be the next Crawford County Judge, to oversee county roads and operations.Tim Walker and Stacey Shelly are the two remaining candidates for Crawford County Clerk.Since only Republican candidates are on the ballot in all three races, the winners of the runoff races will be in office beginning in 2023.Sebastian County voters will decide between Republican candidates Ken Blevins and Lora Rice to be the next county treasurer/tax collector.Some voters will also help decide the Republican St. Rep. District 52 runoff race between Rep. Marcus Richmond and Mike Jones. The seat represents portions of Sebastian, Scott and Yell counties. The winner of the race will face John Wayne Catlett (I) in the November general election.In Sebastian County, early voting is being held at the courthouse in Fort Smith and at the fairgrounds in Greenwood.Crawford County early voting locations are at the Emergency Operations Center in Van Buren and at the Alma Community Center.Early voting centers are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Monday. For election day on Tuesday, 32 voting centers will be open in Sebastian County, and 14 voting centers will be open in Crawford County.
