The Miami Dolphins have made the offensive side of the ball a major focus throughout the 2022 offseason.
In order to give quarterback Tua Tagovailoa the tools he needs to succeed, talent has been added to the offensive line, receiving corps and running back stable. One player that will likely play a notable role in the backfield is running back Raheem Mostert.
Back in the 2021 NFL season, Mostert suffered a knee cartilage injury and ended up missing the entire season after Week 1. Fortunately, it sounds like his rehab has gone very well so far.
Mostert’s best season so far came in the 2019 campaign. He rushed the ball 137 times for 772 yards and eight touchdowns. He added 14 receptions, 180 receiving yards and two touchdowns through the air as well that season.
While the 30-year-old doesn’t really have what it takes to be an every-down back, he certainly is capable of making an impact for the Dolphins. Along with Mostert, running backs who could play big roles on Sundays for Miami include Myles Gaskin, Sony Michel and Chase Edmonds.
Hopefully, the running backs can consistently move the ball on the ground and open up passing opportunities for the team’s overhauled offense.
If Miami’s offense can take major strides this season, the Dolphins should be able to finally get over the hump and end their playoff drought.
