Real Madrid fans have made their feelings about UEFA known over the past year. It goes beyond the animosity resulting from the power play between Florentino Perez and UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin (and maybe more importantly, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG and ECA chair).

UEFA is not on the good list of any fanbase in football, save for maybe the people supporting clubs who are enabled by the European governing body. (For example, PSG have been able to flout Financial Fair Play for two straight transfer windows.)

They are incompetent and running players into the ground, because it is the only way they know how to increase their revenues. Their boundless greed is saturating the football calendar and putting the health of players at risk.

Real Madrid center midfielder Toni Kroos has spoken out about UEFA’s issues before, as did goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

UEFA does not care about the health of players

And now, it was Luka Modric‘s turn to tell the truth about the rubbish UEFA is doing that every player, fan, and lover of the beautiful game should be against.

The UEFA Nations League has been ongoing, and it began shortly after the Champions League Final. There was little time for player to prepare, and, in truth, this tournament in all its iterations has been seen as a monumental waste of time and an unnecessary source of physical strain on players. Arsene Wenger advocates scrapping it, and he was applauded for those comments.

Modric himself did not mince words about the issue of the UEFA Nations League, via Madrid Xtra on Twitter:

"“Nations League? It’s not normal to make us play four games in 10 days after a season like this. It’s inhumane.”"

It IS “inhumane”. That is the perfect word to describe how UEFA treats the players. Their well-being, their futures are irrelevant to these money-hungry ghouls, who seek to extract every bit of dignity and every bit of tendon strength from the players who are the very reason why they have jobs or any sort of a product in the first place.

Instead of protecting the players, marketing the players, helping the players mentally and physically, UEFA seeks to tear them down, all the while positioning themselves as the “good guys” in some holier-than-thou fight that, at the end of the day, is just business. The Super League wants to control things and believes it can make more money than UEFA, while UEFA does not want to lose its monopoly. Clubs could get hurt by the Super League, of course, but it is not as if UEFA hasn’t done its own share of damage to the sport.

Next. Didier Deschamps must value Eduardo Camavinga or risk further embarrassment. dark

Modric and other players who tell the truth should be applauded, and hopefully more stars can stand up to the powers that be.

Because it is only going to get worse. The clowns of UEFA want to create another meaningless competition for the 2022/23 season, just to extract even more profit for a product that is becoming increasingly watered-down – and increasingly dangerous to its players.
