Tom Rogic’s decision to leave Celtic at the end of last season must have come as a surprise to many fans. The Australian had been linked with a move away from Parkhead in previous seasons as well, but back then, he was completely out of the first-team picture. The arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager had revitalised his career though and the midfielder had re-established himself as one of the most important players in the Hoops’ squad.

Thus, him deciding to leave was both a shocker and a blow for Celtic, and it remains to be seen whether they end up signing a replacement or not this summer.

At the end of the day though, it made sense why Rogic would want to leave. He had achieved almost everything that there was to achieve during his nearly decade-long run with Celtic and the desire to try a different challenge was perhaps natural.

But as reported by The Scottish SunBanjarmasin Post and other Indonesian outlets are now linking Rogic with a move to Persija Jakarta.

Most fans would expect Rogic to remain in Europe and perhaps try his hand in a different league. On the other hand, he had been linked with a move to Qatar in the past and maybe that could potentially make sense as well.

But a move to Indonesia, at this stage of his career, at the top of his game, does not seem to make a lot of sense. With all due respect to the league, it is not a common destination for players in Europe to head to.

It remains to be seen how things turn out for the Australian midfielder. We can only wish Rogic the best of luck wherever he ends up though.
