CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Drake, Slash, Hank Williams Jr., Brett Eldredge, UB40 and others are among this week’s new releases (all subject to change) alongside this year’s second Record Store Day...

Album of the Week: Train songs have been part of the music landscape in all genres for decades, and a new compilation -- “Americana Railroad” (Renew/BMG) -- breathes a little locomotive breath with contributions from John Fogerty, Dave Alvin, Rocky Burnette, Dom Flemons, Peter Case and others. Co-produced by Carla Olson and Saul Davis, it was issued in limited vinyl edition for Record Store Day last fall and now punches its ticket for a wide release.

Album Title of the Week: Plato III, “The Devil Has Texas” (Polyvinyl)

Did Ya Know?: Hank Williams Jr, recorded his “Rich White Honky Blues” (Easy Eye Sound/Concord) with the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach at his Easy Eye studio in Nashville. Auerbach assembled some of musicians from the Keys’ 2021 set “Delta Kream” for these covers of songs by Lightnin’ Hopkins, Muddy Waters, R.L. Burnside and others.

Record Store Day: This year’s second RSD takes place Saturday, June 18, at an independent record shop near you, with scores of special releases from the likes of Pearl Jam, Keith Richards, Prince, Creedence Clearwater Revival and many more. Visit recordstoreday.com for a full list and for participating stores.
