Actress Jamie Chung is getting candid about her decision to use a surrogate. The actress, who got her start on The Real World in 2004, opened up about using a surrogate because she was “terrified” that being pregnant would ruin her career. Last year, she and her husband Bryan Greenberg welcomed twin boys.
Tanya Rad shared on-air that Jamie’s confession is a brave one she hears friends discuss often.
“I was terrified of becoming pregnant. I was terrified of putting my life on hold for two-plus years,” Jamie said in an interview with Today. “In my industry, it feels like you’re easily forgotten if you don’t work within the next month of your last job. Things are so quickly paced in what we do. So it’s a compromise that we made together as a couple.”
Jamie added: “People probably think, 'Oh, she's so vain. She didn't want to get pregnant,' and it's much more complicated than that,” she explained, revealing she also froze her eggs. “For me, personally, and I will leave it at this, it’s like, I worked my ass off my entire life to get where I am. I don’t want to lose opportunities. I don’t want to be resentful.”
Tanya shared with Ryan Seacrest and Sisanie she’s proud of Jamie for saying this out loud because she knows a lot of women who feel similar.
