The annual Heritage Day Rodeo will take place on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25 at the Huntington Rodeo Grounds. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Tom Kay to discuss all the details.

There will be several events that contestants can sign up for. “We do get the barrel racing, team roping, tie down roping, bare backs, break away roping, saddle bronc, and bulls. They need to call Allison at (435) 764-0064 and they ask that you please do not leave a voice mail,” explained Kay. Right now, they are taking contestant registration for the events and you must sign-up on or before June 16.

The rodeo is the kick-off to the city’s Heritage Days celebration which will take place on July 1 through July 4. “Heritage Day’s kicks off we’ll start with the rodeo and then our main Heritage Days with all the events happening start July 1, Friday and it runs July 2 and the fourth is the big day. When we have the big fireworks at night, and our big entertainment which is free to everybody which is Charlie Jenkins again this year,” said Kay. There will be lots of family friendly activities and events taking place over the city’s weekend celebration. Most of the activities will be held at the Canyon View Middle School Field.

The annual Heritage Parade will take place on Monday, July 4 and there is still time to sign-up a float. “We like to get entries a head of time so we know how many we got in the parade but you can just show up, we’ll fit you in also,” stated Kay. Right now, is the time for families, business, civic groups or teams to put together a float for the parade. This is free advertising for your business/organization and it’s a wonderful way to get involved and really give back to the community. Types of entries can range from a flatbed trailer, vehicles, bicycles, walking groups, motorcycle clubs, riding horses and ATV/UTVs.
