Sleep Under the Stars in This Tiny Glass House

Sheri Holland thinks of her home as an extension of the outdoors. Her 255-square-foot tiny house features huge windows meant to make guests feel like they're part of the surrounding nature—with a bit of added luxury, of course.

The house, which Holland rents to guests, is located near Hondo, Texas, so antelope and other animals are frequently seen around the property. "When I'm at the glass house, I just feel at peace, and really one with nature," Holland says. "The whole vibe is so chill; it's just such a cool experience."

And while you'll get a gorgeous view from anywhere, you can raise the bedroom wall to open the house to the outdoors. There's also an outdoor shower and a gorgeous fire pit area so you can make the most of your surroundings.

When you step inside, you're greeted by bedroom walls made almost entirely of glass. A garage door-like wall can be raised and lowered to open the room to the patio—and the bed can even be moved outdoors.

Holland wanted to create a space that felt like it was partially outdoors, so there are no curtains in the room, and she encourages guests to take advantage of the raising wall and roll-out bed. "We designed this bed specifically to be rolled out under the stars," she says. "It's really a wonderful experience. If you've never done it, camping does not compare—this is luxury."

The bedroom isn't the only innovative space: The small kitchen is perfectly neat and tidy thanks to a sliding door that hides extra storage. Pots and pans hang on the wall, along with kitchen supplies like cooking sprays, snacks, and condiments. The hidden storage space keeps the countertop and shelves (which Holland built) clutter-free.

Holland used the same hidden storage solution in the bathroom, keeping the focus on the handmade vanity. Shampoo bottles, extra toilet paper, and other bathroom essentials are hidden away across from the three-tier vanity. Holland found the wood for the countertop nearby, and loved the grain texture, so she sanded, stained, and cut it to make the perfect vanity surface. With the rest of the wood, she created shelving above the toilet to hold extra towels and washcloths.

To finish the vanity, she added a few more shelves and industrial hardware, then installed a copper sink to match the tiles in the shower.

Of course, guests aren't limited to showering indoors. Holland also created an outdoor shower with tin walls and cedar planks. "It's such a fun experience," she says. "If you haven't showered outside, I highly recommend it."

There's also a cozy outdoor area designed with relaxation in mind. Comfy padded chairs face a glass fire pit that can be fired up any time of day. "It's a fun place to sit and listen to the birds and watch the animals," she says. "And you get an awesome morning view; it's phenomenal."

Holland says she hopes her guests enjoy the experience of being immersed in the outdoors. "When I'm at the glass house, I just feel at peace," she says. "The whole vibe is so chill. Waking up in the morning and having antelope jump right in front of your bed—it's just a really restful place, right here."
