The Shrine Bowl's phrase of "More than a Game" holds true time and time again, but sometimes it hits a little closer to home.
Aeneas Cole was an honorary co-captain for the 64th Shrine Bowl Saturday, as the youngster from Burwell has gone through quite the battles in his short time on earth. That inspired the players -especially Burwell's Caleb Busch, who suited up in Saturday's game.
"It puts a whole new meaning on the game, knowing that that kid's from Burwell, it gives me something other to play for than to win," said Busch.
Even though Aeneas was a co-captain for the South Team rather than the North Team that Busch was playing for, the final score never mattered all along.
"There's no dilemma. The kids always win in this instance right here," said Busch. "We play for the kids, so that's all there is."
