La Esmeralda adds taste of Mexico to Olney

The Olney Chamber of Commerce welcomed its newest member and purveyor of Mexican fare, La Esmeralda Restaurant, with a ribbon cutting on May 26.

The restaurant is owned by Felipe and Esmeralda Soto. The Sotos already run a business here in Olney, the Durango Rustic Retreat. The Durango is a venue for many formal events such as weddings, engagement parties, Quinceañeras and reunions, with information on renting the venue available at durangorusticretreat.com.

Soto says the couple decided to bring a new Mexican restaurant to Olney to have a business where the family could all work and bring authentic Mexican food to the area. Soto says they will offer catering as well.

The restaurant, located at 122 West Main Street, is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the exception of Sundays, when the restaurant will open at 7 a.m. and Saturday the restaurant will be open till 10 p.m. To reach the restaurant to place to go orders, call 940-564-4122. Soto said he wishes to express gratitude to Olney and hopes everyone will be patient as the new restaurant works out any problems in the first few weeks after opening.

The restaurant will offer authentic Mexican dishes such as Chilis Rellenos, Carne Guisada, Flautas, Enchiladas, Tacos Asada and Pastor and more.

The restaurant will also be open for breakfast seven days a week.
