BROWNWOOD

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 75-78 degrees; 3.56 feet low. Bass are good to 6 pounds on crankbaits and shaky heads feeding on perch beds along rocky shorelines. Most are in a summer pattern. Crappie are fair to one pound on minnows from 10-15 feet of water in brush piles and around lighted docks. White bass are excellent to 1.25 pounds trolling with small swimbaits or crankbaits. Catfish are slow on cut bait, liver and perch.

GRANBURY

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 76 degrees; 0.39 feet low. Fish are moving to the southern end of the lake. Striped bass are slow, but can be caught in 20-40 feet of water trolling umbrellarigs with white or chartreuse or live bait mid lake. Catfish are good on cut bait in 10-40 feet of water on cut bait throughout the reservoir. Report provided by Kraig Sexton, Sexton’s Guide Service LLC. Bass are good with a quick early morning topwater bite from 6-6:30 a.m. Transitioning to 16-20 feet of water using Carolina rigs on points.

POSSUM KINGDOM

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 1.97 feet low. Striper fishing is on fire right now. Catching lots of fish trolling bucktail jigs, and jigging large spoons. Still catching a few fish on live shad. White and chartreuse are both good colors for artificials. Sand bass are good using small shad, chartreuse and white slabs bounced off the bottom or just above bottom. Catfish are starting to slow down gearing up for the spawn.

PROCTOR

GOOD. Water stained; 75 degrees; 3.21 feet low. White bass and stripers are fair on windy points with slabs. Black bass are poor. Crappie are fair on brush piles. Catfish are fair at the back of the lake.

WEATHERFORD

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 78 degrees; 4.51 feet low. White bass are good using slabs and silver jigging spoons on main lake humps under the birds. Bass are good with some schooling topwater action early morning, switching to crankbaits along the grass when the morning bite ends. Crappie are good on main lake brush piles with minnows and jigs. Catfish are good off docks using cut and prepared bait.

WHITNEY

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 73 degrees; 2.74 feet low. Fishing is similar with fish working their way to the south end. Striped bass are great in 20-50 feet of water trolling umbrella-rigs, swimbaits and fishing with live bait on flats and along the main river channel throughout the reservoir. Catfish are great on live or cut bait near the bottom throughout the reservoir.

To prevent the spread of zebra mussels, the law requires draining of water from boats and onboard receptacles when leaving or approaching public fresh waters.
