Akron Pool up and running

The opening of the swimming pool feels like the unofficial start of summer.

The Akron Swimming Pool opened its doors for the 2022 season Sunday, June 5, with Kilee Randel and Crystann Brown teaming up to manage the facility.  With the weather expected to be on the cooler side for the next week, patrons are eager to see those temperatures warm up so they can really take advantage of what the pool has to offer.

Regular open swim hours will be from 2-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 3-8 p.m. Sunday.  The pool will be closed on Saturdays.  Lap swim started Tuesday, June 7 and will be held every Tuesday through Friday from 6-7 a.m.  Everyone must pay to enter, and punch cards are available for open and lap swim.

Registration is ongoing for swimming lessons, with the first session to be held June 13-17.  The second session is planned for July 11-15.  Class sizes are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  Registration will be taken at the pool during open hours and payment is due at that time.  Private swimming lessons are available upon request.  A breakdown of levels, prices and group lesson times can be found at the pool.
