The home of Ken and Paula Barber is among the Agar Day tour stops.

The community of Agar is extending a welcoming hand to history enthusiasts during the second annual Agar Day this Sunday, June 12. The event is a fundraiser for the Sully County Historical Society (SCHS) in support of their ongoing efforts to preserve history in Sully County. Agar Day tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at the Sully County Auditor’s Office, or by contacting Beth Rinehart 605-222-2966, Nola LaRosh 605-222-1383, Susan Lamb 605-765-4516, Kelli Stephens 218-969-0920 or Lew Robbennolt 605-769-1825.

On Agar Day last year, the tour was confined to Agar Town. During this year’s Agar Day, some of the community’s founding families will be celebrated with visits to the Robbennolt, Mikkelson, Wittler and Ken Barber farmsteads.

“Last year turned out to be such a great success we decided to do it all over again,” said SCHS member Lew Robbennolt. “We’re really looking forward to having everybody out.”

In advance of the tour, the Bunkhouse will host a bloody Mary bar and bean bag tournament at 1:00 p.m. Transportation by speaker equipped bus will be provided for the tour which starts at 2:00 p.m. and concludes with a meal – included in the cost of the tour – at Millie’s at 5:00 p.m. During Agar Day, the winner of the raffle of a 17HMR gun the SCHS is raffling will be drawn.
