Bibb County deputy completes forensics training

A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputy made history last month when he became the department’s first member to graduate from the National Computer Forensics Institute.

Armed with a month’s worth of education from the nation’s premier law enforcement training facility in cyber and electronic crime forensics, Investigator Chris Poole will be able to better protect the community he serves as a certified forensic investigator.

To outsmart today’s criminals, Poole said law enforcement need to embrace new technologies.

“Everything they taught me was valuable,” he said.

The four-year member of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office will now be able to help solve cyber crimes involving senior citizens and children, sex trafficking and exploitation. Valued at $35,000, this education and equipment comes at no cost to the county.

“The reason I ever even got into this job is because I care about people,” Poole said.

A father himself, he knows how important it is to look out for society’s most vulnerable members.

“There’s no better feeling than knowing that you were the voice for that child who couldn’t stand up for themself, or the older person who couldn’t,” Poole said. It’s a great thing.
