Billie Jo (Peel) Bergmann passed away on May 28, 2022. She was born in Rochester, Texas, to a large family with 12 siblings.

Growing up during the Great Depression made an impression upon Billie that created a fierce work ethic and a thirst for knowledge and business. Her entrepreneurial spirit shined through early in life.

Around the age of 20, while working as a bank teller in Houston, she saw a for sale sign across the street. Soon after, she opened a premier country and western night club featuring live entertainment with artists such as Ray Price, George Jones and many more. It was a wonderful opportunity for Billie to showcase her love of people, her talent for entertaining and her innate business acumen.

In 1968, Billie met the love of her life, Elmer Ralph Bergmann. They were set up on a blind date by family members, and it was love at first sight. They married May 16, 1971, and eventually settled in Elmer’s hometown of Boerne. There, she became a successful and respected Realtor until she retired.

Billie and Elmer loved to dance, travel, golf, play cards and entertain friends and relatives. They shared a deep love for each other and a zest for life and adventure, and they had many of them.

Billie was an avid and accomplished Bridge player and trivia buff. She loved to tell jokes and funny stories. She knew the value of good friends and loved her lifelong friends and Bridge partners. She never knew a stranger and loved to help those in need. As she always said, “It was just the right thing to do.”

On January 9, 2019, her beloved Elmer passed away. Lost without him, she relied on her faith, family, friends and church family to see her through. She couldn’t wait to be with Elmer again in heaven but knew that God had a plan. Her family and friends know that she is happy in heaven, together again with Elmer now.

Billie Bergmann was preceded by her husband, Elmer; her son, Bradford Jennings; and her siblings, Tommy Peel, Jack Peel, Aline Clary, Doyle Peel, Jake Peel, Vera Haag, Cecil Peel, Arthur K. Peel Jr., Earl Peel, Dorthea Peel and Alfred Peel. She is survived by her sister, Pearl George; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was loved and will be missed by all.

Visitation will begin on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church with the Funeral Service following at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Boerne Cemetery.
