Comedian Tom Segura spent the morning at Dell Children's Medical Center meeting and playing video games with patients.
Segura raised and donated more than $40,000 for the Starlight Children's Foundation.
The nonprofit is dedicated to delivering happiness to seriously ill children and their families through innovative programs free of charge.
On Monday he was presented the Golden Heart Award in front of a small group of hospital staff members and the child life specialist team.
Dell Children's Medical Center is one of more than 800 hospital partners of Starlight.
"Dell Children's has been a great partner of Starlight for many years and utilize several of our programs including Starlight gaming, Starlight VR and toy deliveries," said senior director of marketing and communication at Starlight Children's Foundation, Aimee Finn. "We couldn't think of a better partner of bringing that happiness to kids when they need it the most."
Segura took a tour of Dell Children's, spent time getting to know the patients as well as play a couple rounds of video games with them.
"They're really great kids. You hear about what charitable organizations do, but to actually get to see it and experience first hand, I think it really changes it for you," said Segura. "It's a nice distraction, it's nice escape from all the treatments and everything they have to go through. So it's awesome that they get this because of the work a place like starlight does.
