Former Alabama players Antonio Langham, Chris Samuels on College Football Hall of Fame ballot

Two former Alabama football players have made it onto the 2023 College Football Hall of Fame ballot. 

Antonio Langham and Chris Samuels were among 80 players and nine coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision included, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame announced Monday. 

The class will be announced in early 2023. Membership voting will go through June 30. 

Langham was a unanimous first team All-American in 1993. He also won the Jim Thorpe award and was a three-time All-SEC selection. Langham, a member of the 1992 national championship team, remains the program's leader in interceptions with 19.

Samuels was a 1999 unanimous first-team All-Americana and won the Outland Trophy, given to the nation's best interior lineman. He was also a two-time first team All-SEC selection and didn't allow a sack in 1999. 

The hall has had 1,506 players inducted to date. It has a requirement of being a first-team All-American at some point. 

"Being in today's elite group means an individual is truly among the greatest to have ever played the game," National Football Foundation President/CEO Steve Hatchell said in a statement, "and we look forward to announcing the 2023 College Football Hall of Fame Class early next year."
