Dave Filoni Has a Story Idea for Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker’s First Meeting
While we finally got a scene between Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan and his son in The Book of Boba Fett, it was heavily implied that this was not the first time that Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano met, and that they knew each other previously. Dave Filoni has revealed that he has an idea of what their first meeting would look like, but he hasn’t decided upon where and how to tell that story.
Talking with Screen Rant after the Mando+ panel at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, Dave Filoni revealed that he has interest in telling the tale of the first encounter between Ahsoka and Luke. The good news is that he’s put some serious thought into it and knows what the story would look like! With that also comes some bad news, in that it’s not going to be shown in Ahsoka, and he doesn’t yet know where the tale could fit amongst the list of greenlit Lucasfilm projects:
“Yeah, I have a whole story about that, that I devised many years ago, actually. ‘Cause I had to put that tile in place to do what I’m doing now and understand it. I haven’t found a way to tell that story yet – I’ve told a piece of it afterward, but we’ll see. You’d love it, it’s a great story!”
In addition, Dave Filoni providing an interesting response to fan expectations that Ahsoka is a sequel to Star Wars Rebels:
“I would say that there is a strong aspect of that from what I showed [at the Mando+ panel], and it’s kind of fulfilling the promise of a story that I was gonna tell, and I think we’ve found the best way to tell it. So I’m excited about that, we’ll see how it evolves. It’s just exciting to get to do it, so I can’t wait for people to see it.”

If we at Star Wars News Net have room to make any humble suggestions, then perhaps the best avenue to tell such a story may be for a hypothetical second season of the anthology series Tales of the Jedi, given that the series involves a bunch of shorts in the animation style of The Clone Wars, with three of the six episodes confirmed to feature Ahsoka. The format of animation comes with fewer restrictions than live-action, and would potentially allow the original voice actors for the characters (Ashley Eckstein and Mark Hamill) to return. In any case, it’s good to hear that there’s a plan in place to tell this story eventually, in some format.
Ahsoka is filming, with the series planned to arrive on Disney Plus at some point next year. The series stars the likes of Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christensen, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Ivanna Sakhno, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Ray Stevenson.
